We visited the Bizen potter Mr. Hiroyuki Matsui and experienced our own Bizen pottery. He gave us a thorough tour of his studio and noborigama kiln (“climbing” kiln.) We all were fascinated by his crafts, that are unadorned, close to the earth, and also filled with the modest beauty.
備前焼陶芸家、松井宏之氏の工房へ茶陶体験に伺いました。お手製の全長20メートルの威風堂々の美しい登り窯の内部はしっとりとした静けさ。美しい焼成を待つ作品が並んでいます。我々の作った物も同じ窯に入ることを思うと、一同感激です。
松井氏の作品は侘びた佇まいと、しっとりした静かな艶と品格。古の古備前の空気とモダンな軽やかさの両方を感じます。手に取り唇に当てる瞬間を想像すると胸が高まります。
